NISSAN – #getmilanexcited

Kingsday and MediaMonks produced a 360°-video to capture the feeling, the sound and the crowd from the perspective of the flag carriers that come on to the pitch before the match. The images were recorded in a stadium filled with 70,000 supporters using a custom made helmet and an additional 360º-camera on a tripod. Filmed during the quarter final between Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

 

This was the first time that 360°-cameras were allowed on the pitch so shortly before the match. If you hear UEFA Officials saying “don’t know what you guys did to achieve this, but this is really unique”, then you know you’re creating something special. As one of the main sponsors of the UEFA Champions League, Nissan wanted to put fans at the heart of the experience and Kingsday devised a campaign consisting of three concepts that were at the limit of what’s possible.

Another novelty! Take a Nissan Leaf that is literally cut in half. Put the Champions League Cup in it. Put a number of cameras in it and one on a motorcycle. And drive the Champions League Cup from the Fan zone to the stadium in front of 170,000 delirious fans. And that was not all, because this was the first simultaneous multi-camera broadcast on Periscope and Facebook!

Live 360 broadcast on YouTube

Watching football at home is nice, but it lacks the atmosphere of the real hardcore fans. So Nissan by means of a second-screen on YouTube wanted to put the viewer between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in order to experience the game with them.

 

The way we did this was unprecedented, i.e. through a multi-camera 360º-broadcast live on YouTube via mobile data. Does this sound too nerdy? In any case, it makes us intensely happy …
